"Communion Bells"

COMMUNION BELLS is a 13 song project. The 1ST copies were physical CDs. Then digital distribution of the project was official via DistroKid on March 1st 2025. Note this LP is........

BEST PLAYED AT MAXIMUM VOLUME!

The following are some notes from the 1st Single from the project TELL ME SARAH. It was almost the CD title but later as COMMUNION BELLS came together it just fit as project theme.

One day back in May of 2024 after I had moved a lot of my recording gear to a remote lake house location, I was out there sitting around and decided to get my Larrivee BT-03 Baritone Acoustic Rosewood guitar out and mess with it. I started strumming, was humming a tune, said some words I cannot even remember now, but my heart was on loss. Loss of a loved one. Loss of feeling God close to me. Loss of the Joy of the Spirit. Loss.

Within 15 minutes the "Tell Me Sarah" line was there because it flowed. And around that time I hit some strum chords that sounded nice and big and fat, and that became the section with "Lies I've tried, but dry eyes still cry". I don't think those were the exact words right away, but by the time I cut a drum track (the levels being set when I recorded a short drum part that became 'Warm It Up') the line settled into that.

I had written many lines of 'tell me sarah' and what was filtered out became the official lyrics as follows.

TELL ME SARAH

Tell me Sarah - why you went away
Tell me Sarah - is it better like they say
Tell me Sarah - would you say a prayer for me
Tell me Sarah - could you share what you now see

Lies I’ve tried - But dry eyes still cry
Lies I’ve tried - But dry eyes still cry

Tell me Sarah - are you gently lost in space
Tell me Sarah - do you still love the human race
Tell me Sarah - as you slowly float away
Can you tell me - how I’ve nothing left to say

Lies I’ve tried - But dry eyes still cry
Lies I’ve tried - But dry eyes still cry
Lies I’ve tried - But dry eyes still cry
Lies I’ve tried - But dry eyes still cry

COMMUNION BELLS  Project Notes:  BY SONG

1) WARM IT UP
*notes: ©02-2025 Frazier Riddell - This drum beat was simply a test to get mic levels. Once close to having sounds I played the start to stop drum part as heard here and then did a save as to start next song. One day in a moment of non inspiration I inadvertently listened to this track and thought, “I’m gonna make a song out of this. I sat with a piece of paper and in about 5 minutes jotted down these words. And so is, this song “Warm it Up”. Shout out to Ringo Starr (I’m a big Beatles fan of influence from the age of a wee tyke). It just seemed appropriate that this song should begin the 13 song project COMMUNION BELLS.

WARM IT UP
Groovy baby - Black gold Texas tea - Simple times and simple rhymes
All right lets warm it up now

Bang bang I can feel the beat - I wanna hear Ringo trying to move my feet
Wanna feel bass - I wanna play guitar - Don’t care if I ever become a super star

16 Candles now 65 - Warm it up - when I’m getting cold
I warm it up - when I’m feeling old - I warm it up - I warm it up
Warm it up - yes

Bang bang I can feel the beat
I wanna hear Ringo trying to move my feet

Groovy baby - Black gold and Texas tea
Warm it up - Warm it up
Yes yes - alright
